Katie Price was praised by viewers of the Late Late Show for her “brilliant” interview about her son Harvey.

The 18-year-old son of the television personality is partially blind, autistic and suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome, among other health difficulties.

On Friday night, Katie spoke with host Ryan Tubridy about life with Harvey in his transition to adulthood, as highlighted in her recent documentary with the BBC, in which the mother was trying to find a suitable residential college for her child.

“[Harvey’s needs] They are complex but I love him in pieces, I would not change him and I do not treat him differently from my other children, “said Katie.

“We have a very good relationship, a lot of jokes and that documentary took nine months to shoot! They had to stop insulting Harvey because when he starts, he starts.

“People are afraid of Harvey, not that he is going after anyone, but he is a danger to himself.

“The documentary is a vision of the journey of a mother and her son, that when one turns 18 and has complex needs, it is a transition step, it is a massive change and it was a great learning curve for me.”

Harvey now lives at a residential college during the week and returns home to Katie and her siblings on the weekends.

The former glamor model admitted that it is difficult to be away from him during the week but knows that it is the best for her son.

“It’s hard enough letting your child go to college, but then at that distance you think, ‘What if they love me?

“He calls me on his iPad and says, ‘I need you mom, I miss you, I want to hug.’

“I have to tell myself that it is not forever and that you need to make the transition to independence.”

Staying positive, Katie, a mother of five, says she is optimistic about her ‘bright’ son’s future.

“I have hope in Harvey. Now he is an ambassador for Mencap, they have offered him a documentary number two. But the most vulnerable thing is that Harvey has no idea, people ask him for a photo but he has no idea, he just likes the flash of the image, “he said.

“They control him a lot too. Fortunately, he doesn’t understand it, but I do.”

RTE viewers praised Katie for the interview and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

“Katie is trying to do everything possible for her disabled son, which is apparently more than his father has done,” wrote one.

“Katie Price is such a loving and devoted mother to Harvey,” he said for a second.

“Katie #LateLate fabulous interview and such understanding of her son Harvey,” wrote a third.

“Katie Price is absolutely amazing, she deserves so much happiness,” added a fourth.

While a fifth commented: “Say what you want about Katie Price, but you have to admire her continued and committed advocacy for her son and children with special needs over the years. There is no denying her clear devotion to her family. and his son”.
