Jurgen Klopp worries that his current Liverpool squad is overloaded.

Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas have joined the Klopp team this summer.

With academy products growing and also looking for first-team opportunities, Klopp says he may have too many players and worries that some have been left “in the garage” too often.

He said Sky sports: “You can’t or shouldn’t have a squad of 30 players. That doesn’t make sense, we don’t have enough games for that.

“The calendar for professional footballers, especially if you play for the national team, is on the limit and we try to do what we can by rotation.

“We’ll see how we can fix it, but you can’t just leave a piece of equipment in the garage and take it out every two or three weeks. It’s not like an old car in your garage and one Sunday you take it out.

“There will be difficult situations where you will miss a player here or there, so we will see how we can deal with that.

“But 30 players for sure is not something we are looking for.”
