The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s televised interview with Oprah Winfrey revealed a series of dramatic revelations.

From Meghan’s suicidal thoughts to accusations of racism within the British, the royal family was racist and the entire extent of Harry’s fractured relationship with his father, the Prince of Wales, here are the main developments:

Meghan’s mental health
The Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had suicidal thoughts while struggling with life within the royal family, saying, “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”

She said that she asked for help and asked to go somewhere to get help, and she approached one of the most important people in the institution, but they told her it would not look good.

She recounted how Harry cradled her when she was in the depths of despair and how she sought the help of one of Diana’s best friends, the Princess of Wales, even though it had been Julia Samuel, who is a psychotherapist.

Royal family accused of racism
Meghan said that when she was pregnant with Archie, an anonymous member of the royal family raised “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he is born.”

When asked if there were concerns that her son was “too dark” and that would be a problem, Meghan said: “If that’s the assumption you’re making, it’s pretty safe.”

Pushed by Winfrey about who was having those conversations, Meghan declined to say, adding, “I think that would be very damaging to them.”

Harry declined to elaborate, adding: “That conversion, I’m never going to share it. At the time it was awkward, I was a bit surprised.”

The duke said none of his family members spoke out in support of Meghan after the racism he said she faced in the media.

“No one in my family said anything during those three years. That hurts,” Harry said.

Harry was disappointed in the Prince of Wales.
Harry said he was disappointed in Charles and that “he’s been through a lot of pain.”

Speaking of his father, the duke said: “I am really disappointed that he has been through something similar, he knows what pain feels like, (and) Archie is his grandson.

“But at the same time, I will always love him, but a lot of pain has happened and I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try to heal that relationship.”

“But they only know what they know or what they are told.”

Harry said his father stopped taking his calls while Harry and Meghan were in Canada “because I took matters into my own hands. I needed to do this for my family.”

Baby sussex is a girl
Harry and Meghan revealed that they are expecting a girl.

The duke joined his wife in the second half of the interview and told the chat show host, “It’s a girl” and said it was “amazing” to have a daughter.

When asked if they were “done” with two children, Harry said “done” and Meghan said, “They are two.”

He also confirmed that the baby will be born in the “summer”.

Crack with the Duke of Cambridge
The rift between Harry and William continues.

Harry revealed “Relationship is space right now. And time heals all things, hopefully.”

He did not criticize his brother and echoed previous comments, saying, “I love William to pieces, he is my brother, we have been through hell together, we have a shared experience, but we were on different paths.”

The Queen
Harry denied having “caught” his grandmother, the Queen, with the explosive statement about leaving the position of royalty.

The duke said he believed the report could probably have come from “within the institution.”

Meghan praised the monarch, saying the queen gave her “beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace” for the couple’s first joint engagement.

She said that she had not realized that she would have to bow to the Queen.

The Duchess of Cambridge
Meghan said Kate made her cry before her wedding at a bridesmaid fitting, not the other way around.

The duchess said Kate was “upset about some things and that it was hers and apologized” and sent flowers.

But Meghan added that the false reports were a turning point.

He said that “everyone at the institution knew that was not true” and hoped that Kate “would have wanted him to correct himself”, adding that “he is a good person.”

Lack of support
When asked by Winfrey why they left, Harry blamed a “lack of support and lack of understanding”.

She said her family members suggested that Meghan should keep acting “because there wasn’t enough money to pay for her.”

She added: “There were some obvious signs, even before we got married, that this was going to be really difficult.”

Meghan said her only regret was “believing them when they said she would be protected.”

Royals trapped
Harry said that he had been “trapped within the system, like the rest of my family.”

“My father and my brother are trapped. They cannot leave.”

Shock due to loss of safety protection
Meghan revealed that she wrote letters asking Harry’s family not to take their personal protection officers away, warning that she was facing death threats.

Harry said he “never thought” that the security detail would be removed by deciding to retire from royal duties.

He said, “I was born in this position. I inherited the risk. So that was a shock to me.”

The royal family cut Harry financially
Harry said his family “literally cut me off financially” in the first quarter of 2020 and opted for Netflix and Spotify deals to pay for their security.

He said he had what Diana left him and “without that we couldn’t have done this.”

Archie Title
Meghan suggested that she and Harry wanted Archie to be a prince so that he would have security and be protected.

The Duchess expressed surprise at “the idea that our son is not safe” and the idea that the first colored member of this family does not have the same title as other grandchildren.

But Archie, who is seventh in the line of succession to the throne, does not have the right to be HRH or prince due to the rules established more than 100 years ago by King George V.

‘CBS Presents Oprah with Meghan and Harry’ will be on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player tonight at 9.30 pm.
