Keane destroys ‘overweight’ and injured Agüero by ‘question’ of Manchester City

Roy Keane has accused Sergio Agüero of “accumulating pounds” during his recovery from injury.

Aguero was not named in the Manchester City squad that faced Liverpool on Sunday, with Gabriel Jesus impressing in his place.

The 32-year-old has struggled with injury problems again this season, recovering from a knee problem only to suffer a hamstring problem soon after.

He hasn’t completed more than 75 minutes of a game since March and is in the final months of his contract with City, with an eventual return to South America that had been long planned.

Keane took advantage of the forward’s physical slippage, which could have contributed to his injury loss.

“My problem with Agüero when he came back was that he seemed to be overweight,” he said. Sky sports.

“Sometimes you can get injured and start running. It’s hard to catch up, but don’t pack on the pounds.

Agüero generated controversy last month after an incident involving assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis, with Guardiola defending him as “the kindest person”.
