‘It’s like a fashionable mullet’: RTÉ’s Tony Connolly smart and casual workwear creates a buzz online

An RTÉ journalist was seen in a suit jacket and shorts combination while reporting live from Brussels yesterday.

TEA editor for Europe Tony Connolly yesterday swapped his suit pants for shorts amid the scorching Belgian heat and yesterday he was seen reporting from Brussels in a stylish navy blue shirt and jacket and shorts with sandals.

To the viewer tuning in to the news in Ireland, in the live shot of the piece on camera, he appeared to be elegantly dressed, as the camera captured Mr. Connolly from the waist up.

A viewer snapped a photo of the reporter and tweeted a photo with the caption: “top half is ‘a camera from outside the Berlaymont’; bottom half is ‘his 28th in Brussels at 7pm.’

“Guilty …” Mr. Connolly replied.

However, her outfit was greeted with joy online.

“At least he doesn’t have socks with the sandals,” wrote one user.
