An Irishman who lived in Australia for a few years tragically died in a road accident.

Dwaine Edward Byrne, originally from Mitchelstown Co Cork, had been living in Medina, near Perth in Western Australia, where he was working in construction.

He was involved in a serious traffic accident involving a work utility vehicle on November 2. Byrne was seriously injured and later died in hospital, reports Cork Beo.

Western Australian police told CorkBeo that Corkman, 52, was a passenger in a car that crashed in Calista, near his home in Medina, on November 2.

Byrne was the passenger of a Toyota Hilux that lost control around 2:40 p.m. on a highway in Calista. The vehicle rolled several times and Bryne was thrown from the car, sustaining serious injuries.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital but died on November 7.

“The driver, a 22-year-old man from Medina, suffered minor injuries,” said a spokesman for the Western Australian Police.

“The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.”

Byrne had been working at a Rockingham-based family construction company and his friends who posted tributes on social media have spoken of a hardworking man who had many friends and was devoted to his family.
