Ireland will have its hottest day of the year today, with temperatures forecast to be 22 ° C.
Most of the country will enjoy the warm sun.
But climate bosses predict that a “northern air flow” will arrive later tonight, triggering a period of cooler temperatures for the next few days.
Despite the expected warm conditions, stormy or heavy rains are expected in some parts of the country this afternoon.
The northwest and east will be slightly cooler, while daytime winds will be light.
A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Saturday will be warm and sunny, although there will be rain, some with risk of storms, in the afternoon.
“Higher temperatures from 18C to 22C, but cooler in the northwest and along the eastern coasts, with maximum values of 14C to 17C.”
But mercury will drop to 0C on Sunday and Monday night.
The forecaster said: “Becoming colder and windier in a northern air flow. Dry and shiny with a touch of frost possible at night.
Sunday will be windy and much cooler than the last days.
Met Eireann predicts that it will be quite cloudy with outbreaks of rain during the morning.
It will become dry with sunny afternoon periods with temperatures higher than 14 degrees.
Monday should be dry and cool with sunshine in most parts, although it will be somewhat cloudier in the northwest.
Temperatures will drop at night to between -1 and +2 and there will be a risk of frost in some places.
Tuesday is mostly dry, apart from some rain in the northwest during the morning, but it will be quite cloudy and cool.
