Irish Pubs: Dublin Bar & Restaurant Takes The F *** As Sarcastic ‘Contact Tracking Details’ Image Goes Viral

A popular Dublin pub scoffed at the new government guidelines when its hilarious “contact tracing details” image went viral.

Harry Byrnes’ sarcastic mockery of Clontarf bar came just days after new guidelines were released describing that tavern keepers who serve food must keep a record of every meal they consume on their premises for 28 days.

Quick to refute the new food law, which has been described as “crazed bureaucracy,” the watering hole posted the snap showing; ‘time, entrance, color of socks, food and type of pizza topping’.

Responses for weather included “lovely time, bedtime, and time of my life,” while entry notes ranged from “moonwalk” to “march” and even “transport” and “fall.”

The pub posted the image with the caption: “We are getting better at this contact tracing thing, have we forgotten something?”

And Harry Byrnes wasn’t the only place to research the new government rule.

Trinity Street bankers tagged the Minister of Health in his tweet saying: “Hello Stephen Donnelly and Failte Ireland.

“A customer swapped his pepper sauce for garlic butter with his steak today, hope it’s okay?”

They added: “At this stage, every pub in Dublin and every other food service business has to grapple with this and fight the so-called guidelines. It’s just ridiculous now.”

Oscars Cafe Bar in Smithfield joined in the teasing and also established a set of rules for eating and drinking in the pub.

Among the usual guidelines that we have become accustomed to, they added: “A record of each bathroom visit will be kept; a record will also be kept of what the purpose of the bathroom visit was, that is, whether it was a number 1 or a number 2. “

They continued: “We are all in this together, unless of course you are a bar or restaurant, in which case you will be thrown to the wolves.”

Padraig Cribben, CEO of VFI, says: “This is crazy.

“The idea that a pub should record all the food ordered by each customer and then store it for 28 days is a crazed bureaucracy.

“Not only is it too impractical for our members to implement it, but why does the Government believe that this law will help in the fight against Covid? It’s crazy.

“We are all in favor of making customers feel safe in our pubs, but this new measure only increases the pressure on staff who already face a number of new security measures.

“This is part of a Statutory Instrument presented by Health Minister Simon Donnelly without any consultation with the hotel sector.

“It is obvious that both the minister and his department have little understanding of the practical implications of this new law.”
