A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “This morning, heavy rains will continue in the north and west with a continuing risk of surface and river flooding. The rain will move east into the afternoon, followed by scattered showers from The west. Mild at first with morning temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees, but the clearing of the rain will bring much cooler conditions, with temperatures generally dropping to between 4 and 7 degrees during the afternoon. One forecaster added: “A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers on Saturday. A cold start to the day will give way to slightly milder conditions from the south with temperatures higher than 7-11 degrees with a light breeze from the east.

“Current indications are that it will stay a bit colder than normal for Sunday and into next week, with a few more possible frosts. It will remain largely dry also with scattered rains.”
