Met Eireann forecasts that the weather will be unusually cold for this time of year in the coming week, although the rain will at least stay away.
Weather bosses expect temperatures to be below the norm several nights over the next week as we approach the winter months.
Previous forecasts suggested that mercury would dip towards freezing on Tuesday and Wednesday night, although it is now not forecast to drop below 2 ° C.
The latest heavy rains are expected to recede today into a mostly dry week.
A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Some scattered showers persist in Ulster this morning, however it will be mostly dry elsewhere with sunny spells.”
“However, the clouds will gradually accumulate from the Atlantic during the afternoon, and the rain will develop on the western shores later in the evening. Higher temperatures in the afternoon of 12 to 16 degrees, with a light breeze from the northwest or variable, then they will increase moderately towards the south on the Atlantic coasts.
“Any residual rain on the east coast will clear early Monday morning to leave a bright and mostly dry day with spells of sunshine. However, some scattered showers will continue to affect the north and west coasts. Temperatures higher than 11 at 13 degrees, with moderate to cool winds from the northwest.
“In general, a good amount of dry weather is developing during the week. Temperatures will remain fairly constant around normal or a little below.”
Tuesday and Wednesday nights will be the coldest with conditions around the 2C mark at locations along the west coast; eastern areas are expected to be a little softer.
