Met Eireann warned that a big change is coming next week, as an Atlantic weather system will hit Ireland.

Conditions will become much more unstable as a period of high pressure slowly comes to an end.

However, the rest of this weekend appears to be dry, although somewhat cloudy and even foggy in places.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “A dry and mostly cloudy start this morning with mist and fog slowly clearing away. Stay dry during the day, aside from a few spots of drizzle here and there. However, sunny breaks will still occur, best of these in the southeast and south The highest temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees, cooler in the north and milder in the south, with light breezes from the northwest.

“Mostly dry with a mix of clouds and clear spells tonight. It also gets hazy, with a few patches of fog and sometimes there will be patches of drizzle, mostly in parts of Ulster and Connacht. Lower temperatures 2-6 degrees, the coldest in the north and fringes of the southwest, with light breezes from the northwest.

“Tomorrow, Sunday, mostly dry, except for a few spots of drizzle. An overall brighter day with some good periods of developing sunshine, the best of which will be in the eastern half of the country. Highest temperatures 9-12 degrees in a slight northwesterly breeze, becoming variable and almost calm later. “

And experts say we will see a return of some wet conditions starting in the week as the high pressure system that dominates our climate slowly declines, with rain and squalls moving in from the Atlantic.

“On Tuesday, light bouts of rain and drizzle will gradually spread further inland, but there will still be a fair amount of dry weather with bright, sunny periods during the day. Higher temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with light to moderate winds. from the southwest, sometimes strong on the west and northwest coasts. During the night, a strip of rain will move slowly towards the counties on the west coast.

“The rain band will continue to the southeast through Wednesday, dissolving and becoming lighter as it does so. A good sun will follow behind as the rain clears. Higher temperatures 8 to 13 degrees with light to moderate breezes west to southwest, becomes mostly dry at night with a hint of frost in places.

“Getting a little cooler the rest of the week with some frost at night. Quite uneasy from the rain and squalls. Windy at times too.
