MET Eireann has issued yellow wind and rain advisories for five counties, with gusts expected to reach 100 km / h overnight.

Forecasters have issued new warnings for tonight and tomorrow morning as strong winds and heavy rain will hit some counties.

Donegal, Galway and Mayo will be covered by a yellow wind warning until 6am tomorrow.

The alert reads: “Strong south-southeast winds that deviate from the southwest will reach average speeds of 50 to 65 km / h with gusts of between 90 and 100 km / h.”

“The winds will be stronger in the coastal areas.”

There is also a rain warning for Cork and Kerry with up to 40mm expected.

The warning, valid from 9 am to 11:59 pm tomorrow, reads: “A streak of rain on Sunday will bring accumulations of 25 to 40mm, higher totals in mountainous regions.”

“There may be some localized flooding.”

SPOT FLOODS

Spot floods are on the cards for some areas, with temperatures ranging between 10 ° C and 15 ° C.

One forecaster added: “Stormy Sunday with some brilliant spells to start.

“However, the outbreaks of rain will spread from the southwest during the morning and afternoon.

“Some steep falls, particularly in the Southwest, carry the risk of flooding.

“Southwest winds will remain cool to strong in the southern counties, and will be mild to moderate elsewhere.

“Some patches of fog too. Highest afternoon temperatures of 10-15 ° C, cooler in the north and milder in the south.”
