People will probably find Ireland’s first weekend locked up a bit easier with the miserable conditions to come.
From the looks of it, not many would want to go out, as heavy rains and very strong winds are set to hit the country for a few days.
Met Eireann said the bleak prediction stems from a “low pressure area” that will make its way across the country this weekend.
While the next few days are not looking very good, things will get worse starting Friday night.
One forecaster said: “Generally cloudy today with good periods of drought and erratic outbreaks of rain and drizzle.
“The best of the sunny spells will occur in the eastern counties this morning.
“The winds will turn in a northwesterly direction and cool during the day. The highest temperatures are between 10 ° C and 15 ° C, the mildest in the southeast.
“Any persistent patchy rain will subside Wednesday night as drier and clearer conditions spread out from the west.
“It gets quite chilly with lows of 2 ° C to 6 ° C with northwesterly breezes subsiding at night.
“It looks like Thursday will start out cold and dry, with some sunshine in the morning. It will get cloudy in the west in the afternoon, but it looks like it will stay mostly dry with only some light rain.
“Cloudier in all areas at dusk with rain in the west. Higher temperatures of 9 ° C to 12 ° C with moderate breezes from the west or southwest.
“The rain in the east will clear up on Friday morning to leave a windy day with brilliant spells and passing rains.
“Maximum temperatures of 9 ° C to 12 ° C with cool winds from the west or southwest. There is increasing wind on Friday night with bouts of rain and drizzle entering.
“Minimum temperatures of 5 ° C to 9 ° C, which occur early at night with strong winds from the south.”

Once the wind and rain hit Friday night they will sadly be here to stay until at least Sunday.
The spokesperson added: “It looks like it’s going to be wet and windy on Saturday with outbreaks of rain spreading eastward followed by sparkling spells and rain.”
“Higher temperatures of 12 ° C to 15 ° C with strong winds from the south, veering southwest later in the day. Cool and stormy Saturday with spell clear and showers, some of the heavy and prolonged showers in the south and the west with risk of thunder.
“Minimum temperatures of 5 ° C to 8 ° C with fresh and gusty winds from the southwest.
“A vigorous low-pressure area is expected to position itself south of Iceland on Sunday feeding a strong, gusty airflow from the west or southwest over Ireland.
“There will be quite general stormy rains, these more frequent in the west of the country.
“The best sun in the eastern counties. Highest temperatures of 9 ° C to 12 ° C with strong winds from the west or southwest.”
