Met Eireann meteorologists have forecast a bye week ahead despite the dry start to September.

Ireland’s weather forecast for today, tomorrow and beyond appears to include plenty of rain as autumn begins to dominate the country.

Outbreaks of rain are a constant feature for the next several days, despite intermittent dry and bright spells.

On Tuesday temperatures will reach 22 degrees despite the cloudiness and moderate breezes.

These are the outlook for the weekend and next week.

Today, Friday, will start dry in most areas and periods of sunshine are expected.

The rains in the west and northwest will spread across the country into the afternoon and continue for the rest of the day, some of which will become intense.

The highest temperatures are expected to reach between 14 and 18 degrees with moderate to cool westerly winds.

Met Eireann adds that tonight, much of the country will dry up and the rains will be limited to the west and north.

However, a torrential rain will move over Ulster and Connacht overnight. Lower temperatures of seven to 10 degrees.

Unfortunately, Saturday will be a cloudier day with rain and possibly longer periods of rain, especially in the northern half of the country.

The weather service says the best of the sunny or bright spells will be in the south.

Cool and windy with maximum temperatures of 13-17 degrees and moderate to cool westerlies.

The summary for the next few days is “cool and windy with rains or longer periods of rain at times”.
