Ireland Weather: Eireann’s one-week forecast met after fears storm headed straight for Ireland

After a relatively dry and warm weekend, it looks like widespread rains will hit the country this week.

But not before temperatures rise to 23 degrees on Tuesday.

Met Eireann has forecast that Monday night will be “very mild and humid, with erratic rains and drizzle, affecting mainly the Atlantic counties.”

And tomorrow, patches of rain will continue along the coast, however one forecaster has higher temperatures that will rise between 16 and 23 degrees Celsius and will be warmer in parts of the east and south.

One forecaster said: “On Tuesday, scattered bouts of rain and drizzle will continue to affect the heavier Atlantic counties along the coast. Mostly dry elsewhere, with only a small patchy drizzle.”

A storm will narrowly avoid the country

“Some bright or sunny spells too, mostly in eastern and southern parts. Humid, again with foothills and coastal fog.”

It was feared that a storm would hit the country and that next week it would look increasingly unstable.

But meteorologist Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather has predicted that the storm could bypass the country.

He said: “The latest weather charts show a good weekend ahead with that potential storm holding up well in North West Ireland. Still subject to change, but looking much better now.”

Meanwhile, a forecaster from Met Eireann said Wednesday will be “dry with mixed clouds and some sunny spells, only isolated showers.”

“Cooler in moderate northwest winds, occasionally cool. Higher temperatures 15-18 degrees Celsius, milder in the southeast. Cold night with lower temperatures 5-9 degrees Celsius and light breezes from the west.”

By Thursday, most areas are once again dry with a combination of clouds and sun. Cooler although with higher temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees Celsius, with light breezes from the southwest.

Friday will be wet in Ulster and Connacht to start, and the rains will spread to other areas during the day, though they will disperse. The highest temperatures are 15-18 degrees Celsius, the mildest and driest in the southeast.

Current indications suggest that the weekend will bring long dry weather with light sunshine and breezes from the south.
