Ireland is entering a new lockdown with a different list of restrictions from Christmas Eve to New Years.
But unlike the previous rules, the changes to the trips will be slightly modified compared to the last two blocks.
The Government confirmed that travel outside their county will continue to be allowed until December 26 inclusive.
Those away from their “place of residence” after that day be They will be able to return to their county of origin, but as of January 1 they will not be able to travel outside their county.
All you have to remember is:
Can I travel outside of my county on December 24? yes
And on December 27? No, except to come home after Christmas.
And since January 1? Do not travel outside of your county at all.
However, there are exemptions that allow people to break these travel restrictions for essential purposes.
These include:
- Travel to and from work, where work involves providing an essential service
- To attend medical appointments and pick up medicines and other health products.
- Travel to attend disability day services
- Traveling to attend court
- For vital family reasons, such as the care of children, the elderly or vulnerable people, and in particular for those who live alone but exclude social family visits.
- For agricultural purposes (food production or animal care)
- To attend a wedding or funeral
- To visit a grave
