Attendees will be Dr. Tony Holohan, Health Department Medical Director, Dr. Ronan Glynn, Health Department Deputy Medical Director, Professor Philip Nolan, Chairman of the NPHET Irish Epidemiological Modeling Advisory Group, and Dr. Cillian De Gascun, Medical Virologist and Director of the National Virus Reference Laboratory.

We can expect more details on whether the growth of the virus is slowing down and what signs are there to show the direction it is headed.

The briefing is expected to start anytime after 5.30pm

The first batches of the latest vaccine approved in Ireland for the fight against COVID-19 have arrived at Dublin Airport.

The Moderna vaccine was approved by the European Medicines Agency last week, making it the second treatment to be approved after Pfizer / BioNtech in December.

Ireland ordered 875,000 doses of the jab although there are only 4,000 in the shipment that arrived Tuesday.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly welcomed the arrival, tweeting: “It’s great to see the first installment of the Moderna vaccine land in Ireland. The first installment is small, but every vaccine counts.”
