INVESTIGATIONS into the unexplained deaths of a mother and two children in Ballinteer, Dublin, continue this morning.

Forensic examinations were carried out at the scene yesterday afternoon after gardaí found the bodies of the 37-year-old woman and the children, a boy (6) and a girl (11), at the home in Llewellyn Court in the southern suburb of Dublin.

The family has been named locally as Seema Banu, 37, her daughter Affira and her son Razam.

A man, understood as the wife’s husband and the children’s father, contacted Gardaí yesterday. The research team has been talking to him.

Gardaí was alerted to the scene yesterday afternoon after neighbors expressed concern. The agents forced entry to the house where they discovered the bodies.

The mother was found in her room and the children were found in a different room.

The Garda Technical Bureau attended the scene yesterday and the bodies were removed from the scene. It has been isolated as the scene of a crime.

Post mortem exams will take place today. Gardaí said this will inform them of the direction the investigation is taking. They asked that people not speculate about the case on social media.

Dozens of locals attended a vigil at the Llewellyn estate last night. Candles and other tributes were left under a tree near the house. Nearby, a park bench was decorated with colored ribbons.

Seema Banu was the victim of an alleged assault earlier this year and a suspect had appeared in court on related charges but has not gone to trial.
