Social media influencer Jess Brennan was beaten along with a friend in a shocking attack early Saturday in Dublin city center by a group of men in their 40s.
He, 29, had a bottle thrown on South Richmond Street at 1.30am Saturday morning. The older men then “beat and kicked” the young woman, leaving her with bruises and a popped lip that might need stitches, sources say.
His friend, 21, was also attacked. He was kicked, beaten and had defensive wounds on his hands.
Ms Brennan made the news after footage of the infamous “drunk brunch” at Berlin D2 in Dublin surfaced. Ms. Brennan worked as a promoter for the event.
He later said the brunch was a “small gathering that largely adheres to the rules” and criticized the government for using it as a “scapegoat.”
Ms. Brennan suffered bruising and bleeding to her face when the group of four men attacked the influencer and her friends, who were in a group of seven.
One of Ms Brennan’s friends managed to call 999. The attackers had fled the scene when emergency services and gardaí arrived.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics and was informed that she might need some stitches on her lip.
“These young people were coming home after a night out. This group of older men began to verbally abuse them before assaulting them, ”said a source.
Gardaí of Pearse Street is leading the investigation and last night they checked CCTV in the area.
Garda headquarters confirmed it was investigating a serious assault involving a man and a woman in their 20s.
