I’m a celebrity winner Giovanna Fletcher has supported Meghan Markle’s decision to open up about having a miscarriage after she suffered one eight years ago.
In her first newspaper interview since being crowned the first Castle Queen, the 35-year-old mother of three shared details of her own heartbreaking loss.
After discovering that Prince Harry’s wife wrote a wildly honest account of the loss of her baby, Gi, as everyone calls her, said: “It’s amazing to hear that Meghan has talked about it, I’d love to interview her on the podcast.
“I think it’s very important for people to be open about miscarriages, every time someone brings up this topic of conversation it helps a lot of people, because it’s a very lonely thing to go through and hear other people express themselves when you can’t find the right Words to help people understand what you are going through is very important.
“I think it’s so admirable and surprising for her to share what is really raw and disturbing to go through.”
Now the mother of Buzz, six, Buddy, four, and Max, two, Gi tragically miscarried at six weeks in 2012.
She said: “I had a miscarriage before Buzz and it took me years to talk about it, but once you do, it’s very comforting to know that you are not alone.
“Miscarriage is still common and it’s surprising that people don’t feel like they can tell people that they are pregnant until 12 weeks because they don’t know what might happen.
“When a miscarriage happens, you need the people in your life to be there for you and you don’t need to feel ashamed or like you’ve done something wrong, you need the people in your life to be able to support you.
“I don’t feel like people should be afraid to say something just in case, because if it happens just in case, you need those people.”
Giovanna was seen crying on I’m A Celebrity after not getting her message from home for an update from Tom and the kids.
She finally reunited with her family on Saturday, sharing sweet snapshots of her hugging her children as soon as she walked through the door.
