Oisin Murphy faces a possible lengthy ban after testing positive for cocaine while traveling in France.
A urine sample given by the champion rider at Chantilly on July 19 was found to contain metabolites of the drug.
But subsequent hair tests have found no trace of the substance and he said on Twitter: “I have never taken cocaine in my life and I will fight to clear my name.”

Murphy was informed of the positive test on his A sample on August 19, and on the same day he arranged for an independent laboratory to take hair samples to prove his innocence.
The lab tested multiple hair segments and they tested negative for cocaine metabolites.
The results have been shared with France Galop and Murphy is awaiting the results of the French authority’s analysis of his B sample.
“I want to thank those who support me and meanwhile I want to continue winning and focus on my career,” he added.
“I have no further comment to make and I wish to respect France Galop’s processes.”

Murphy, 25, was a champion trainee in 2014 and took the full-fledged cycling crown for the first time last season.
He started 13 winners ahead of William Buick in the 2020 championship table Thursday after winning 111 races on the season, including his first victory in a British Classic over Kameko in the 2,000 Guineas.
Murphy has four mounts at Chelmsford on Thursday and races at Ascot on Friday.
Frankie Dettori was suspended for six months after testing positive in France in 2012, and prior to that, Kieren Fallon suffered the same fate twice, incurring a six-month suspension in 2006 and then retired for 18 months in 2008.
Robbie Downey also tested positive for a cocaine metabolite at Le Lion-d’Angers in June last year. He protested his innocence and presented hair evidence evidence on his appeal, but failed in an attempt to overturn a six-month ban.
News of Murphy’s case comes a day after the Professional Riders Association revealed that northern rider Nathan Evans had tested positive for cocaine.
Fellow jockeys William Carson, Kieran Shoemark, Callum Rodríguez and Kevin Lundie have been banned for using cocaine in the past two years.
