Healy ruled out Munster’s trip to Clermont

Munster will be without Ben Healy for Saturday’s Heineken Champions Cup clash against Clermont.

The 21-year-old had an MRI on his shoulder yesterday after Sunday’s win over Harlequins at Thomond Park and will now begin rehab.

Healy came in as a replacement for JJ Hanrahan in the 60th minute of the 21-7 win and sent in a couple of heavy challenges.

Speaking after the game, head coach Johann van Graan said: “We are very worried about Ben, he took two late hits there.

“We’re going to get him checked out now. Clearly, it was an opposition tactic to hit him late and certain things in the game are just unacceptable. Now he’s injured because of it.”

Munster added that Matt Gallagher underwent a successful surgery last week and will now undergo rehab, while Jeremy Loughman (shoulder) and Niall Scannell (neck) have returned to full team training and are available for selection.
