TEMPERATURE testing, no handshaking policies and contact records will be established for companies to reopen shortly, under a new protocol for employers and workers returning from the blockade.

The “Safe Return to Work Protocol” will be announced today, warning that people who return to work may need support for anxiety or stress after traumatic events such as financial difficulties, illness or death of a relative or friend during the pandemic.

Ireland’s Covid-19 death toll reached 1,429 after an additional 27 deaths were confirmed.

156 new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed, with a total of 22,541 cases.

Meanwhile, the Certificate of Exit has been removed for the first time in the history of the state in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Students will now have the option of receiving a grade based on their performance in school or taking the traditional test when it is safe to do so.

The Leaving Cert, which generally begins in early June, was rescheduled until July 29, but Minister McHugh said it would now be “impossible” to have it at that time.
