Family and friends of Trevor Deely gathered Monday night near the place where he was last seen to renew an appeal for information about his disappearance.

Mr Deely was last seen 20 years ago on December 8, 2000 after spending the night in Dublin city center with his colleagues from the Bank of Ireland after a Christmas party.

Despite 20 years of Garda investigations and multiple red herrings, his family still don’t know what happened to the 22-year-old.

Marking the two decades that have elapsed since his disappearance, Garda issued a new appeal for information, in particular about a man seen on CCTV walking behind Mr. Deely before his disappearance.

“We are completely dependent on the public. We are completely dependent on that person or people who know what happened to Trevor and where he is. That is all that interests us, where it is. It’s not even what happened. It’s where it is, ”Trevor’s sister Michelle said Monday.

On Monday night, Ms Deely met her brother’s friends and family on Haddington Road near the Baggot Street Bridge, the place where Deely was last seen on CCTV. Supporters stood in the rain, carrying placards asking for information about his disappearance.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by gardaí at Pearse Street Station.

After spending the night socializing in Dublin City without incident, Trevor Deely, 22, was last seen on CCTV passing the Bank of Ireland ATM on Haddington Road at approximately 4.14am on December 8. 2000, “said Insp Katherina Joyce.

“Our investigation continues to focus on trying to establish the identity of a man dressed in dark / black clothing featured in CCTV footage speaking to Trevor at a doorway on Wilton Terrace at the rear entrance to Trevor’s workplace.

“We believe the same man can later be seen walking a short distance behind Trevor in CCTV footage at the Bank of Ireland ATM on Haddington Road, he has never been identified.

“This was the last known sighting of Trevor Deely and we believe that the man pictured on this CCTV may have vital information to help us solve this case. We would ask this man or anyone who can identify him to come forward.

New missing posters have been posted around the Haddington Road area in hopes of awakening memories of the night Mr. Deely disappeared.

“He is the baby of our family and we have spent the last two decades doing our best to find him. But we are still stuck in the same place of not knowing anything beyond their last confirmed sighting at the top of Haddington Road, “said Michelle.

Three years ago, a large-scale Garda search operation was launched in the Chapelizod area after a tip to Gardaí. No human remains were found at the site. A pistol was located but is not believed to be related to the Deely case. The search was stopped two months later.

“It’s very difficult for me, all the mystery surrounding his disappearance,” said Trevor’s father, Michael. “You wonder about this and you wonder about it. You can never escape from it, no matter if I drive through the countryside or leave Naas village. It’s the same, there’s always something that reminds you of Trevor. “

A € 100,000 reward from Crimestoppers is still available to anyone who submits information leading to the location of Mr. Deely or significantly progressing the case.

Anyone with information can contact any Garda station, the confidential line at 1800 666111 or Crimecall at 1800 405060.
