The former commander of the International Space Station has invited a late Late Toy Show guest of six years to “talk about space” with him.
Adam King appeared last night at the annual festive extravaganza, where he spoke to host Ryan Tubridy about his love for all things intergalactic.
Adam from Cork spoke of his dream of one day commanding a space mission with NASA.
He said he would like to be an astronaut but cannot because he has brittle bones.
Commander Chris Hadfield, a Canadian astronaut who has commanded the ISS, tweeted after the show that “we should talk about space together.”
Adam – I’ve been lucky enough to CAPCOM many space flights. We should talk about space together. Take care, be nice – Chris@RTELateLateShow https://t.co/XacYA9ncKT

Commander Hadfield became known during his time on the ISS through his use of social media, often posting images and video clips on Twitter.
He wasn’t the only person who approached Adam; the Irish Embassy in the United States also said they would contact their “friends at NASA” to “see if they can’t bring their dreams a little closer.”
Per aspera ad Astra, Adam. Keep looking at the stars young Meanwhile, we will communicate with our friends @POT and see if they can’t help you bring your dreams a little closer. pic.twitter.com/DqRZwdziDQ

Dr Norah Patten, an Irish aeronautical engineer, also said that she would love to meet Adam and hear all about his love for space.
