Filippo Giovagnoli has been rewarded for his team’s FAI Cup final victory on Sunday, as the interim manager was appointed the club’s head coach on a permanent basis.
The 50-year-old Italian, who arrived at Oriel Park in August, helped the Lilywhites qualify for the UEFA Europa League group stage, as well as securing a third place in the league and European qualification for 2021.
Giovagnoli led Dundalk to the club’s 12th FAI Cup victory thanks to a thrilling 4-2 win over reigning SSE Airtricity League champions Shamrock Rovers at Aviva Stadium.
Lilywhites assistant coach Giuseppe Rossi and first team coach Shane Keegan have also written about new contracts at the club.
“I am delighted to sign this contract that makes my position at Dundalk permanent,” said Giovagnoli.
“It is an honor to defend the colors of this wonderful city and I will do my best to maintain the success of the club for years to come because that is what our fans deserve.
“When we returned to Dundalk for the FAI Cup on Sunday night, I could see how amazing our fans are and I hope to see them soon at Oriel Park where they can fight with us. Let’s go town!”
