German police use a child’s drawings to search for a driver

Police in the German city of Hamm have been using sketches of six-year-old children to help locate a rogue driver, who allegedly damaged a road barrier before fleeing the scene.

Police singled out the four children, named Luisa, Romy, Celina and Luis, for “special praise” for assisting in the investigation.

The four young detectives were on their way to school together around 8.40am Wednesday morning when, while waiting for the green light to cross the street, a black car turned a corner before hitting the barrier.

In an online post, police said the driver, described as having short blond hair, “ignored the damage and moved on.”

The children arrived at the school and reported the incident to their teacher, who then reported it to the police.

Then two of the children, Celina and Luis, drew sketches of the incident, as well as a rough description of the fleeing driver.

Police say the images are now part of their official investigation file.
