Gardaí in Cork warned motorists to be careful on icy roads across the county this morning.
Gardaí in Bandon said that “many of the roads in the area here are very icy right now” with roads to Timoleague and roads to Innishannon and Dunderrow in particularly icy conditions.
“Even the road from Bandon to Macroom is also poor,” a Garda spokesperson told The Echo.
Gardaí has contacted the Cork City Council to make the roads as soon as possible.
Innishannon / Kinsale Rd (R605) is currently closed as emergency services deal with an accident.
Gardaí is also advising road users to avoid Bandon / Timoleague Rd (R602) whenever possible, as several trucks are currently stuck along the route due to icy conditions.
There are also numerous reports of cars stuck along roadsides or in ditches in various parts of the county.

An incident is also blocking the regional road (R584) between Ballylickey and Ballingeary at Pearson’s Bridge and there are local detours.
Gardaí has already cleared two collisions in the city, one on Model Farm Rd and one on South City Link Rd.
There are reports of snow in several places, including Mallow, Kilbrin, and Aghabullogue.
Icy roads make driving dangerous, even in areas without snow, with icy conditions reported on the detour to Rumleys Farm on the N71 towards Bishopstown and the Kinsale Road roundabout.
AA Roadwatch advises drivers to ‘take extra precautions if they have to make a trip in such conditions – it can take up to ten times longer to stop a vehicle, so slow down, avoid harsh braking or acceleration, and stay away from whoever is driving. front’.
