Galway Bay fm press room – The road from Barna to Spiddal in Furbo remains closed this morning to facilitate a technical examination of the Garda following a fatal collision last night after which a pedestrian was killed.
Gardaí is investigating the alleged hit-and-run incident that occurred on the R336 at Furbo shortly after 7.30 last night.
The Gardai were called to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. and a pedestrian in her 50s was discovered with serious injuries.
It is believed that she was hit by a vehicle that was unable to remain at the scene.
The woman was then taken to Galway University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post-mortem exam is scheduled to take place at a later date.
The road has since been closed pending a technical examination by forensic collision investigators this morning.
Gardaí in Salthill attracts road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam, traveling in the Furbo area between 7pm and 7:30 pm for these images to be available.
