Gardai has invaded an area of North Dublin issuing an arrest warrant for a man convicted of trafficking in children and adults.
The 55-year-old was arrested at a location in North Dublin on foot of the European arrest warrant.
Officers attached to the Garda Extradition Unit and the Garda National Criminal Investigation Office confirmed that the man authorities had been pursuing for four years had finally been caught.
The warrant was issued in 2016 by the Romanian authorities after the conviction of the man arrested for crimes of human trafficking.
Detective Superintendent Michael J. Mullen of the Garda Extradition Unit said it was a “significant arrest coordinated by detectives attached to Serious Organized Crime.”
He added: “It represents our ongoing commitment to ensuring that those wanted under international arrest warrants are brought to justice.”
Since then, the detainee has been charged and will appear before the Superior Court of Extradition.
