GARDAÍ HAS seized more than 15,000 counterfeit electronic products, including mobile phones, game console controllers, and headsets.

The items were found yesterday when Gardaí searched a business and a home in Dublin.

USB plugs, phone chargers, hard drives and a large number of branded packaging were also seized.

The searches revealed approximately 15,000 counterfeit products along with around 10,000 packaging items bearing particular brand names.

Counterfeit products are estimated to have a potential street value of around € 300,000. Gardaí believes they were destined for the Christmas market.

The searches were carried out as part of Operation Bannister, which targets criminal gangs involved in the sale of substandard counterfeit electronic products.

Gardaí says investigations are continuing and more searches and arrests are anticipated.
