An investigation into the disappearance of Ms Josephine ‘Jo Jo’ Dullard 25 years ago has now been upgraded to a murder investigation, Gardaí says.

Dullard disappeared from the town of Moone in Kildare in 1995. He was 21 at the time.

She had been working at Callan in Kilkenny and had traveled to the city of Dublin on the night of November 9, 1995.

Ms. Dullard missed the last bus home from Dublin that night, so she took a bus to Naas. He then took two separate elevators before reaching the town of Moone.

She was telephoning a friend from a booth in Moone when she said a car had pulled over for her. She has not been seen since.

The Gardaí says Dullard’s disappearance has been the subject of a sustained Garda investigation.

They say the investigation is subject to ongoing review by the Serious Crime Review Team (SCRT), National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI).

Subject to this ongoing review, An Garda Síochána says she is satisfied that Ms. Dullard suffered serious damage on or about the night of November 9, 1995.

The Gardaí is appealing to anyone who has known, seen or has any information in relation to Josephine’s murder after 11:37 p.m. on the night of November 9, 1995, who has not yet contacted them, to come forward.

Gardaí says he is particularly interested in talking to anyone who has seen Ms. Dullard was at Bruxelles Bar, Harry Street, near Grafton Street, in Dublin on November 2, 1995.

They say that Jo Jo Dullare was in possession of her Sanyo stereo cassette player (model MGP21) on the night in question.

They are asking the public to come forward if they ever saw or came across a cassette player like this on the date of Ms. Dullard’s disappearance and in the near future.

Finally, Gardaí is appealing to anyone who hitchhiked in the vicinity of Moone, Co Kildare in late October or early November 1995 to come forward.

At a press conference in Newbridge, Co Kildare this morning, Gardaí highlighted the fact that Jo Jo’s family has been dealing with her disappearance for almost 25 years.

They also noted that today would be traumatic for the family, now that the case has been upgraded to an active murder investigation.

Speaking this morning, Jo Jo’s sister Kathleen Bergin said she wants to take Jo Jo home and let her rest:

She said, “Please find it in your heart to introduce yourself.

“Jo Jo was on her way home that night, her journey was interrupted.

“She didn’t deserve what happened to her that night.

You can help Jo Jo finish that journey and bring her home with us, and let her rest with Mom and Dad.

Gardaí say they are determined in their determination to give answers to Jo Jo’s family and bring her killer to justice.
