Gardai launches investigation after ‘multiple people’ found in Kildare pub

Gardai has launched an investigation after several people were found in a pub in Co Kildare.

The discovery was made during an inspection Wednesday night.

Officers said “several people” were inside the authorized facilities in the city of Clane.

A file is being prepared for the DPP on alleged breaches of Covid-19 regulations in the Health Law.

All pubs and restaurants across the country are currently required to remain closed as part of the government’s level five lockdown measures.

A garda spokesperson said: “As part of Operation Navigation, Gardai en Clane is investigating an incident in which several people were found present at a licensed premises during an inspection there on the night of Wednesday 11 November 2020.

“A file will now be prepared for the DPP regarding possible violations of the Health Act, COVID Regulations 1947.

Kildare Gardai thanks the public for their cooperation in this matter and in general compliance with current regulations ”.
