GARDAÍ HAS STARTED an investigation into the attempted armed robbery of a credit union in Cork City yesterday.
The incident occurred on Togher Road around 2.30pm.
A man entered the credit union, armed with what is believed to be an ax and a hammer. He threatened staff and demanded money, but left empty-handed. He left the area on a bicycle that he had left outside. No one was injured during the incident.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are asking that anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw a man leaving the credit union area on a bicycle to contact them.
“The Gardaí is also attracting anyone who traveled on Togher Road between 2:15 PM and 2:45 PM, particularly motorists with camera footage, to contact the Togher Garda station at 021 4947120.”
