Gardai has found 11 retail establishments that have broken Covid restrictions since the closure measures were introduced.
Rules have been introduced so that stores cannot sell non-essential items, which has seen the end of clothing sections at Tesco, Dunnes, and more.
And until October 31, 11 commercial premises have been found in breach of the regulations.
In all these cases, in accordance with Garda policy, the files must be sent to the DPP.
Checks will continue at major supermarkets like Tesco, Dunnes, Aldi, Lidl and more, which have complied with regulations.
All small retailers are also being inspected to ensure compliance.
Deputy Commissioner for Police and Security John Twomey said: “It is very welcome to see such high and continued levels of compliance with the Level 5 public health guidelines. We want to thank the public for this.
“We know it is not easy, but it is vital that we all work together to maintain this in the coming weeks to further reduce the spread of COVID-19.” Compliance among retail establishments also remains very high. This is appreciated.
“However, there are still some retailers that are potentially out of compliance with regulations. We will continue to focus our attention on those retailers.
“I would like to remind the public that Gardaí across the country are here to help in this difficult time, particularly those who are vulnerable or feel isolated.
