Gardai detains Dublin barbers as video footage shows establishment open despite Level 5 lockdown restrictions

This scandalous recording shows the moment when Gardai arrested a “closed” barber from Dublin for apparently operating during the Level 5 restrictions according to Dublin Live.

Empire Barbershop in Tallaght is now the second barbers in just over a week to be sued for allegedly cutting hair despite being told by the government to close the store until December.

The Tallaght trimmer was “packed with customers and barbers” according to one source and “no social distancing was taking place” at the facility.

The video shows up to three officers entering the store, while four men and a young man sitting in the chair are visible inside, and one of the alleged workers is seen.

A source told Dublin Live: “I was there for about an hour last night and it was packed. I’d say at least 12 people came in and out.”

It is understood that the Gardai have received numerous calls about barbers in recent days.

It is also understood that upon arrival last night, one of the barbers informed Gardai that they were teaching in the building.

Under current restrictions, we can meet someone from another household.

But, it must be done in an outdoor setting where social distancing can be maintained, meaning that barbers were still breaking Covid-19 rules if the allegations against them are proven.

The source continued: “Gardai came to speak with the owner and one of the people who worked there said they were teaching.

“If they were teaching, they would have had a client there for at least an hour, and not shooting haircuts, because the haircut would be analyzed cut by cut.”

“But there was a constant stream of people coming in and paying for the service.”
