Gardaí arrested 11 people for public order offenses after crowds of people gathered today in Dublin to attend a protest against the blockade.
A garda investigation is also underway focusing on the event organizers.
The advice of the Director of the Public Prosecutor’s Office has been requested with respect to any other action to be taken.
A full garda operation has been carried out since Thursday afternoon when the group met at O’Connell Bridge.
Later it moved to East Wall Road and Grafton Street.
The protests are understood to include far-right elements.
Gardaí engaged the group on several occasions using a graduated police response.
With this response, Garda members “engage, explain, encourage and, as a last resort, enforce.”
“On several occasions, protesters were informed that they were violating public health regulations and asked to disperse,” said a Garda spokesman.
“At approximately 5.30 pm, when the protesters began to disperse, a small group began to get involved in incidents of public disorder on Grafton Street.”
After several incidents in the area, 11 people were arrested for public order offenses.
“No injuries were reported and the rest of the group dispersed from the area without serious incidents.”
The 11 people arrested, nine men and two women, are between 20 and 60 years old.
Nine of those arrested have been charged with public order offenses and released on bail to appear in court next month.
Two have been offered adult warnings.
