The FILES will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution after several wet bars in Limerick County were found to be operating in violation of public health guidelines Friday night.

While gardai has not confirmed any specific details, a small number of pubs, in rural parts of the county, are believed to have been open and clandestinely selling pints when they were raided under Operation Navigation.

“In the last 24 hours, An Garda Síochána has detected a number of violations of Covid-19 regulations by authorized facilities, across the country in Limerick, Cork, Carlow, Meath,” said a spokesperson.

The breaches discovered included the discovery of wet bars where alcohol was served, the television was on, and the fire was lit.

Several gastronomic pubs, in other parts of the country, were also found to be in violation of regulations on food service, distance between tables, wearing of masks by staff, and keeping a record of customer data for trace contacts.

In County Meath, 30 people were found socializing and drinking alcohol in a shebeen that was raised. According to Gardai, none of those present had their faces covered.

“In all cases where violations of public health regulations have been identified, An Garda Síochána will send files to the Director of the Public Ministry for advice on how to proceed,” said a Garda spokesman.

In addition to possible criminal offenses by licensed facility owners, gardai is calling on members of the public not to frequent the facilities or engage in activities that may contribute to the increasing spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Meanwhile, 17 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 were reported in Limerick this Saturday.
