Garda Commissioner Drew Harris met with PSNI Police Chief Simon Byrne near the border on Saturday to sign a joint review of Covid-19’s police response.
They met in Moybridge, Co Monaghan on the Monaghan-Tyrone border near Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone, on Saturday morning.
Police chiefs formally signed the terms of reference for the joint review by the NI Police Service and An Garda Síochána’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was discussed at the Thursday meeting of the Northern Ireland Police Board. They will review how their operations have functioned since the respective jurisdictions introduced restrictions in March.
Joint patrol
They later conducted a joint patrol with local officials, conversing with Gardaí and members of the PSNI who operate checkpoints in cross-border traffic on the main N2-A5 from Dublin to Derry Road as part of a Covid-19 operation.
In a statement, the Garda said Harris had “a very positive meeting today with Police Chief PSNI at the Monaghan-Tyrone cross-border checkpoint to discuss strong ongoing cooperation to support public health measures to address Covid- 19 on the island of Ireland. ”
Mr. Byrne said he had a “positive meeting” with Mr. Harris at the border and “discussed our continued joint approach.” He said it was “good to go out on patrol together, a solid partnership.”
