A Galway clinic was engulfed in flames just days before it began administering doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Fire services in Ballygar were called to the scene of the fire shortly after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday after a bystander noticed smoke rising from the roof of the Ballygar Health Center.
The fire is understood to have gripped the front section of the building, leaving it roofless and destroyed with expensive computer equipment destroyed.
The fire is not believed to have broken out under suspicious circumstances, although firefighters will conduct a formal investigation in due course.
The surgery was empty when the fire broke out, meaning no one was injured. He was due to begin administering the Covid-19 vaccines to his 104 patients over the age of 85 on Saturday, and thankfully those procedures will go ahead, albeit in a different location.
The former Ballygar Nursing Home will be used as a substitute place to deliver the beating, in a process that is expected to take around 24 hours.
The Covid vaccines will be delivered on Thursday, so they were not damaged by the fire.
The surgery will be able to get your services back up and running in 72 hours, confirmed Dr. Martin Daly, a GP who works at the center.
The rear of the building is structurally intact except for smoke damage, he told the Irish Mirror.
Dr. Daly said he was notified of the fire around 7.15am
He said the practice had managed to save childhood vaccines located at the back of surgery, which means it can continue to vaccinate children against diseases like measles, mumps, rubella and more.

Dr. Daly thanked the fire service members for their efforts after the Mountbellew and Roscommon fire service crews came to the scene.
The Ballygar Health Center has about nine employees working on site, including three doctors, three nurses, and a public health nurse.
