Ireland will enter level three of coronavirus restrictions before midnight on Tuesday, as the government responds to the increase in cases.
All counties will be at level three for three weeks until midnight on October 27, at which point the government will review the situation based on the status of the virus and public health councils.
In Dublin in particular, the wet pubs will remain closed as they have previously.
Level 3 restrictions generally include:
– Visitors to private homes and gardens should be limited to a maximum of six from another home.
– Social / family gatherings are not allowed, with exemptions for weddings and funerals.
– There are no indoor meetings organized. Meetings organized outdoors are allowed up to a maximum of 15 people.
– Individuals must remain in their county and not leave to travel nationally or internationally, except those who must travel for work, education, and other essential purposes.
– People are asked to work from home unless absolutely necessary.
– Schools, early learning, and daycare services must remain open.
– Higher and adult education institutions should remain open, but are asked to review protective measures and limit congregation as much as possible.
Sports:
– No games or other sporting events are allowed, except for professional, elite, inter-county and senior club championships, all behind closed doors.
– Horse racing can continue behind closed doors.
– Non-contact training activities can continue outdoors and in groups of up to 15, with certain exceptions.
– Indoor training should be limited to individuals only and classes will not be held.
Business and services:
– All stores and shopping centers can remain open.
– All services such as hairdressers, beauticians, barbers, opticians can remain open with strict adherence to the sectoral guidelines on protection measures.
– All outdoor playgrounds, play areas and parks remain open.
– Gyms / leisure centers, swimming pools can remain open for individual use and with protective measures.
– Hotels, guest houses and B & Bs may remain open, but with limited services to residents.
– Restaurants and cafes (including bars / pubs serving wet food / pubs) may remain open for takeaway and delivery and outdoor dining / services for up to 15 people. Dublin’s wet pubs are closed.
– Libraries will be available for electronic services and call and collect.
– All museums, galleries, cinemas and other indoor cultural attractions must close.
– Religious services will move online, although places of worship may remain open for private prayer.
Over 70 years old and medically vulnerable:
– People over 70 years of age and medically vulnerable people are advised to continue exercising their personal judgment.
– It is recommended that they stay home as long as possible, limiting participation to a very small network for short periods of time, while remaining physically distanced.
– When exercising outdoors, stay six feet from others and wash your hands when you return home.
– It is recommended to buy only during designated hours, while covering your face, and avoid public transportation.
