Gardai arrested four men after a shooting in which a woman and a man were seriously injured in Bluebell, Dublin.
A young mother is fighting for her life after being shot in a gun attack.
The 30-year-old man, who is in serious condition at St James’s Hospital in Dublin, is believed to have been shot in the chest and arm.
A man was also shot during the incident at Bernard Curtis House in Bluebell.
He was being treated for his injuries and is in serious condition.
The woman is understood to be known to Real IRA killer Sean Connolly, who is serving a life sentence for murdering veteran crime boss Eamon Kelly.
The 65-year-old man was run over and killed while returning from a gambling shop in December 2012.
It is understood that one’s mother is not involved in any crime.
Locals recounted their shock at the terror shooting that took place during the day on the busy property.
Groups of children played in the street and in a playground not far from the attack.
The Bluebell Community Development Project offices are located in the neighboring complex.
Gardai prevented residents of the flats from entering until their addresses were verified.
One local said: “I’ve been here for six years.
“It is usually very quiet, but there have been some other incidents recently.
“Some arson and other things, but nothing as serious as this.” Tommy Coombe of the Bluebell Outreach Development Program described the victim as a “lovely and quiet” person who kept quiet.
He told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “She was always in and out of the farm to go to work.”
Sinn Fein Councilor Daithi Doolan condemned the shooting.
He added: “Any shot is wrong. But a Saturday afternoon in broad daylight is totally unacceptable.
“This shooting is an attack on the entire community.
“This community deserves better.”
