Four people are due to appear in court tomorrow charged with assault and public order offenses after a fight broke out in a Killarney housing estate on Christmas Eve morning.

A man and a woman, both in their 40s, are currently being held for questioning at Killarney Garda Station.

Two men in their 20s are also being questioned at the Tralee Garda station.

They are all in custody under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and are due to appear tomorrow morning in Mallow District Court charged with various offenses related to the incident.

Gardaí said they were called to a development on Hazelwood Drive in Killarney, Co Kerry, around 1.30 a.m. on Dec. 24, following complaints from a large gathering of people involved in a fight on the property’s street.

No serious injuries were reported.

The Gardaí carried out a series of arrests in connection with this morning’s incident in which four properties were searched “as part of an investigation into criminal incidents on the estate during the Christmas period,” according to a Garda spokesman.

“During these searches, several items believed to be weapons were seized, including baseball bats, hooks and hairpins.”
