Four counties move toward level three lockdown after biggest Covid-19 jump in months

Cork, Monaghan, Longford and Roscommon now have two-week incidence rates above 100, and NPHET will likely have a decision to make early next week.

Latest Covid updates

After 613 new cases and 10 more deaths, Dr. Ronan Glynn issued a warning to the people of Ireland.

The acting CMO said: “The figures reported today and over the past week represent a significant escalation in the profile of COVID-19 in Ireland.

“For those over the age of 70 and those who are medically vulnerable to COVID-19, it is strongly recommended that they limit the number of people they meet to a very small core group of family members, caregivers or friends, for short periods of time, while he remains physically distant.

“We need to work together once again to make a significant impact on the number of cases in the community and ultimately to reduce the number of people who get sick, enter hospitals and intensive care, while protecting services. non-COVID health care providers. I urge people in all counties to follow public health advice to stop the spread of COVID-19. “
