Rock and Roll star Little Richard died at the age of 87.
The singer, who inspired musicians like The Beatles and Elton John, was a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and famous for hits like Tutti Frutti and Long Tall Sally.
Graceful star Nile Rodgers described Little Richard’s death as “the loss of a true giant,” while radio host Tony Blackburn said the singer was an “excellent artist.”
Little Richard, born Richard Penniman, sold more than 30 million records worldwide.
The singer had a great influence on The Beatles, who first met him when they were a promising young band playing in Germany.

Speaking in 2002, Little Richard said: “Paul (McCartney) looked at me every night when I was on stage. Paul idolized me and admired my energy.
“The way you see Mick Jagger and Tina Turner walking across the stage is what he used to do. That’s where everyone got it from. “
The singer’s son Danny Penniman confirmed his death to Rolling Stone magazine, while Pastor Bill Minson told the Associated Press that the star died on Saturday morning.
Rolling Stone said Elton John told the magazine in 1973: “I heard Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis, and that was it. I never wanted to be anything else. “
Several people have turned to Twitter to pay tribute to the rock star.
God bless little Richard.

I’m so sorry about Little Richard. He was there at the beginning and showed us all how to rock and roll. He was a great talent and we will miss him. Little Richard’s music will last forever.

RIP Little Richard. The man who invented rock and roll. Elvis popularized it. Chuck Berry was the narrator. Richard was the archetype. Maureen and I are very honored to be the first marriage that you made. We were lucky to meet him. Live forever in the underground garage. https://t.co/D8NwRKcshi
