Ms McEntee also said that the gardaí would continue to work to ensure that any protest or demonstration was kept peaceful because everyone had the right to protest. Gardaí would have the right to intervene if such events turned violent.
The “huge numbers” currently being tested have put pressure on the contact tracing system, but new staff are being hired every week. In response to reports that some trackers had been asked to use their own laptops, Ms McEntee said that may have been the case during the training, but that no trackers would work without an HSE laptop.
