Exact location of 335 new virus cases as number of counties sees worrying increase

Several counties saw a worrying rise in Covid-19 infections after 335 new cases were recorded on Thursday.

The latest figures, which also include three more deaths, were released by the National Public Health Emergency Team tonight.

The number of diagnosed cases in Ireland has risen to 71,494, while the death toll now stands at 2,036.

Several counties saw a worrying increase in the number of infections, particularly Dublin, which registered 119 after several days of low numbers.

Kilkenny had 29 new infections, while Limerick had 23, Donegal had 20, Tipperary and Cork both had 19.

However, despite the jump in cases, the 14-day incidence rate across the country has fallen back to 103.9.

The latest figures were released in a statement by the National Public Health Emergency Team tonight.

As of 2:00 p.m., there were 246 hospitalized patients battling the disease, 35 of whom were in intensive care.

There have been 15 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

Of the cases reported Thursday, 171 were women and 162 men.

The average age of those infected was 35, while 64% were under 45.
