Every Covid-19 rule we expect Taoiseach Micheal Martin to announce today with a mystery remaining

Taoiseach Micheal Martin is expected to announce Ireland’s Level Five exit strategy later tonight.

A cabinet meeting is scheduled to be held this morning or afternoon at which the strategy will be presented for December.

NPHET met Wednesday and presented its views Thursday with serious concerns about the retail sector.

However, the government seems to have a clear strategy in mind and much is already known about what is to be announced.

At the time of writing, Taoiseach Micheal Martin is expected to address the nation around 6pm. This is what we hope it says;

Ireland is coming out of lockdown

Ireland will come out of the lockdown on Tuesday 1 December and Micheal Martin will confirm it tonight.

The Taoiseach will probably talk about the last five weeks and a little bit and the hard work put in by the people of Ireland to get us into this situation.

Level three appears to be the one the country is heading for, but some warnings will be announced.

Retail can open

This is good news for holiday shoppers as companies like Smyths, Penneys and the rest of the retail sector open their doors next Tuesday.

There seems to be no doubt about the opening of this particular sector.

Gyms and hairdressers

The Taoiseach will announce that gyms can reopen their doors while strict rules apply.

And hair salons / salons may reopen so you can get ready before the Christmas period.

Travel

Micheal Martin is likely to move the country to Level Three, which will still mean that he will not travel outside of his county, except for essential reasons.

This is expected to change as Christmas approaches so that people can travel home from Dublin to Kilkenny, for example.

No major changes are expected on the international travel front.

Pubs and restaurants

This remains the great mystery at this time with today’s cabinet meeting set to shed more light on the situation.

NPHET doesn’t want restaurants and pubs to open this Christmas, except for takeout services.

However, the government is expected to allow gas restaurants and pubs to open later in the month; December 7 is the current date that is being analyzed.

Most people will be listening closely to the Taoiseach announcement about this.

Meetings

Family reunions are the other big topic of conversation with the Government in hopes of giving Ireland a nice Christmas with the family.

The exact details of this are not yet known, although it is reported that up to three households may come together for Christmas.
