Eleven retail establishments could face prosecution for allegedly violating Covid-19 public health restrictions, Gardai said.
Files will be sent to the Director of the Public Ministry (DPP) for 11 incidents until October 31 in which the locals “have continued with suspicions of breach of the regulations.
In a statement, the Garda said that when the facilities continue with alleged violations of Level 5 regulations, the files will be sent to the DPP.
Gardai said that statewide retail facility controls have shown the vast majority to be compliant or compliant when prompted since the Level 5 restrictions were introduced last month.
Figures released Saturday show violations of public health guidelines under the government’s Living with Covid-19 strategy between October 22 and October 31.
Under Tier 5 restrictions, only non-retail outlets can open for a six-week period. Figures released by the Garda also show 13 incidents in which individuals were suspected of violating travel restriction regulations and files were sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
There was one incident of non-use of a mask reported during the first 10 days of Level 5 restrictions, resulting in a file being sent to the DPP, bringing the total number to eight since it became a regulation.
On five occasions contact tracing information has not been provided on passenger landing forms.
Since October 22, gardai has operated 132 checkpoints on the main roads and approximately another 1,000 checkpoints on the minor and minor roads per day.
Average traffic volumes for private cars are currently 50 percent below pre-Covid levels, according to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
Some crime categories, such as burglary, have decreased since the introduction of the Level 5 restrictions, while others remain at similar levels.
