Electric Ireland has announced the reintroduction of a disconnection moratorium for its 1.3 million residential and commercial customers.

The moratorium will begin when Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions enter at midnight.

The company said the measure would protect all of its clients who may experience financial difficulties and uncertainty during the period.

It will run until December 1 of this year.

Electric Ireland has also asked all customers experiencing financial difficulties to get in touch.

He said he will work with them to find a payment plan that suits their individual circumstances.

The company says it works closely with organizations like Irish Money Advice and Budgeting Service and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help customers who are having trouble paying their bills.

This is the second time the company has introduced a disconnection moratorium this year.

“This is great news for Electric Ireland customers,” said Eoin Clarke of Switcher.ie.

“At a time when many are facing financial difficulties, they can rest assured that they will not be without heat or power this winter.
